DEAR
<NAME> MEMBERS;
M The Iowa City Apple Users Group recently acquired a large group of disks K
Ito add to the library for the Apple 2 machines using the popular program
"APPLEWORKS".
M They are a series of disks from THE APPLEWORKS USERS GROUP, from Denver, P
NCO. We receive the disks for only paying a copy fee, and supplying the blank
disks.
I Currently our library has "46" disk sides
(yes 46)
of Appleworks L
Jfiles,
(we recently ordered disks 47-52).
The WP files include tips on K
Itechniques, special setups, printer setup, program reviews, etc. The DB O
Mfiles give examples of "any database" most people could ever think of, or an O
Midea on how to make their own. The SS files have an endless array of files, O
loan amoritazion, log tables, lotto frequency, sample income tax tables, etc.
H We would now like to make them available to you the members of the P
<NAME> , for your Apple 2 library. We only ask for a copy charge of $1.00 N
L(postage included) per disk (with files on both sides) when you supply your L
Jdisk. Or we can supply you with the disks (with files on both sides) for
$3.00 each (postage included).
LNow comes the good part, for
your own "APPLEWORKS" files contributed P
Nto our library, we will wave the copy fee's for
one disk.
The charges will O
Mthen be (with your disk) $.50 for postage, and (with our disk) $2.50 for the
disk and postage.
G If you have "any" files, and would like to contribute them to the P
Nlibrary, please do! You may title your files in such a way that we know what M
they are for: JOHN.BUD BOB.MUSIC etc. PUT YOUR CREDIT IN THE FILE ! P
N If you have an interesting DB or SS file please include a WP file on the
disk to describe it.
N An Applesoft program that works with the AW files is welcome.Information P
Non commercial programs that support AW are needed. A complete review or just
a note that such exist.
Please do NOT send copyrighted info that would get us in trouble...

LIBRARY HAS IN THE "APPLEWORKS DISKS">
------------------------------------------------------------
PROPER FEEDING AND CARE OF FLOPPY DISKS (USER'S GUIDE)
NAlthough the floppy disk is a popular and handy form of mass data storage, it J
His quite fragile and easily susceptible to damage and/or data loss. The H
following guidelines can help to prevent the heartbreak of lost data :
K 1. Always handle a diskette as though it were made of gold. Some cost %
more than an equal weight of gold !
K 2. Never bend, staple, manhandle or otherwise mistreat a diskette. It !
will not forgive you if you do.
L 3. If you spill your Pepsi on a disk or get your sticky Twinkie on the +
read-write slot...kiss your disk goodbye!
J 4. Do not take a disk sunbathing or on Arctic expeditions. They hate A
temperature extremes and it will warp their little mylar disks.
H 5. Don't pile books, concrete blocks, anvils etc. on a disk...They
simply cannot take pressure!
N 6. Keep a disk away from any magnetic field of any kind, including TV,s, P
Nstereos, telephones, batteries and Dr. Frankenstein,s lab. A sure way to wipe
out a disk.
E 7. If a disk has a piece of tape or covering of any kind on the N
Lwrite-protect notch...LEAVE IT ALONE!! It is there for a purpose (mainly to 9
keep klutzes from destroying a perfectly good program).
E 8. Never never write on a disk label with anything other than a N
felt-tip pen
. Better yet, write on the label BEFORE you attach it to the
disk.
N 9. When you take a disk out of the disk drive always put it back in it's M
Kenvelope. Tabletops (especially the ones in this lab) are grimy, dusty and ?
hairy...and our disks are soooo particular about cleanliness!
I 10. Last but not least, always return disks to their proper storage P
Nplace. They're much easier to find next time when safe and snug in their own
little drawer or cabinet.
We look foreward to hearing from you in
